Biography

Areas of expertise:

Basic research: regulation of cell proliferation by growth factors and extracellular matrix, mechanisms of cellular senescence, and studies of signal transduction pathways
Translational research: evaluation of natural and synthetic compounds in terms of their cytostatic/cytotoxic, antioxidant, anti-ageing & wound healing properties

1999: PhD in Biology (University of Athens; on the “Proliferative response of human fibroblasts to exogenous and endogenous growth factors”)
1995 – 2001: Established the Cell Culture Facilities in the Department of Pathology, Medical School, University of Athens (Head: Prof. P. Davaris)
1997: Training in Imperial College School of Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital, Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, London (Head: Prof. P. Sever)
